What is 1 trend or innovation in the industry that excites you? Something that I really am passionate about is Carbon Removal Technology. So Carbon Removal, Long story short, is different from Carbon Offset. Everybody should understand that Carbon Removal means you're actually. Removing CO2 from the atmosphere 2019. We have 59 gigatons of greenhouse gas in the atmosphere. And then those 59 gigatons doesn't mean once we have carbon removal it will clear all of them. It cannot. We need to do everything else, like electrify the grid and then fix how we eat things, how how we produce things, decarbonize the industry, everything else that will. After like several years, after all of those smart people doing their work, you can remove 49, you can drop the level to 49 gigahertz, but then there's still 10 gigatons of CO2 or greenhouse gas that would be in the atmosphere that you need physical removal. Because one CO2, once it's in atmosphere, it's going to stay there for hundreds of years. And that's why we couldn't just rely on the natural weathering process, because some people would say that, oh, we have this Earth. And the sun and everything, they're doing their own thing, right? And trees, Yes, that's true. Your audience needs to factor themselves. But then I think, I think it's 0.3 gigatons of CO2 every year. That's a slow carbon cycle by nature, but we need to remove 10 for a lot of young people. We know, We sort of know in the back of our head and how urgent it is, but we don't know the scale as to how much work we need to put in. So thank you so much for for sharing. Thank you so much for having me today.

How do we meet our 2030 #climate goals? Start by treating climate change as a societal issue, says Maurice Berns, chair of BCG’s Center for Energy Impact. He joined a pre-COP 28 edition ofThe So What from BCG#podcast to talk about a blueprint for meeting the 2030 climate goals. We need to close the green premium gap so that consumers see the real price (the costs to the planet) of CO2 emissions and, we hope, change their behavior so that the transition becomes more demand-led. Unfortunately, thanks to inflation, he says, “People start thinking more and more about the end of the month versus the end of the world.”Listen to the episode: "To save the planet, move fast and clean things" here https://lnkd.in/gSK57XMd or wherever you get your podcasts.

This is an incredibly important conversation with Dieter Helm on the 'Leading' #podcast, sister platform to #therestispolitics.I am so appreciative of Dieter's clarity and directness as he invites people to look at 'carbon consumption.'For anyone working in the #chemicals industry as I do, or any sector up and downstream from this, especially in #sustainability,' this really is a must-listen.We need to be a lot more constructively challenging, and honest in Western business spaces, about where we with regards to climate, biodiversity, and systemically, which Dieter is gesturing towards in this podcast.https://lnkd.in/ezCB4xFw

If you’re pessimistic about climate change, I recommend this podcast episode from Ezra Klein at the New York Times. While there is definitely lots of climate work to be done, this podcast boils it all down to 1)reducing fossil fuel combustion, and 2)increasing sustainable land use. This may seem simplistic, but the podcast paints a straightforward vision of what the actual solutions are to the climate crisis and which innovations need our focus to achieve a positive end state. The harder part is achieving the political will and behavioral changes around what people eat. Even if we haven’t decided as a society to take these steps, it’s refreshing to get a clear idea of what the steps are. A lot of very smart people haven’t given up and neither should you! #EzraKlein #NYTimes #ActOnClimatehttps://lnkd.in/egQE_HuU
